As a rough guide, performing this stretch properly once a day is all you should need to do.

Be guided by your osteopath, but a good range of movement should be to lie on the floor and raise your leg to 90 degrees with your knee locked

But as with any prescriptive stretch/exercise, if it causes pain/discomfort back off
