FAQ
The Answers You Need
WHAT HAPPENS ON YOUR FIRST VISIT?
Your osteopath will go through a case history followed by general and more specific medical questions. Some of the questions may seem somewhat unrelated, for example how long is your commute to work and how do you usually do this, or questions about your diet etc. Osteopaths treat conditions in many ways and a full a picture as possible is needed to be able to treat your condition as effectively and safely as possible.
If an examination is needed, partial undressing may be needed, but not essential and if asked, a patient may keep fully dressed. Even for problems in the upper body, for example shoulders or neck, a full standing examination is often needed as posture can significantly influence the upper body. Shorts, legins or small tops can be worn in the consideration of modesty.
Your examination findings will be discussed, along with the likely underlying factors of your condition. Treatment, as well as likely treatment length will also be talked through.
Post treatment exercises may be given
HOW MANY TREATMENTS?
From the beginning, Wollaston Osteopathic Clinic we have prided itself on getting the patient better as soon as possible, with the minimum amount of visits - WE DO NOT SIGN YOU UP for lots of visits
Some conditions are acute (sudden) and some are chronic (long standing).
Some people are young, some not so.
Some conditions need just one session only ('I walked in doubled up, and left dancing!'), others need on-going maintenance.
You get where this is going, but generally speaking, new conditions usually respond well (3 treatments) and feel significantly improved.
CAN I GET A SAME-DAY APPOINTMENT? DO YOU OFFER WALK-IN CLINIC SERVICES?
Sometimes we can offer a same day appointment, although at more usual busy times a next day appointment is offered. Please always call the practice number for all contact
